Ordering

We will turn quotes around, almost without exception, within 1 day of receipt of request. Please note that the best way to expedite quotes is to submit full information at time of quote request. If you do not have a drawing which specifies materials and colors, then we will need to know the type of label or plate you require, the environmental conditions it will be exposed to, the surface that it will be applied to, any certifications or standards that are involved, the number of colors required, quantities that you would like to see pricing on, and your expectations for production time. Fax, e-mail or call us toll free with the information. Our commitment to you is to always quote on the most ideal material for your unique application. We will never quote on inferior material in an effort to attract your business through lower pricing. Also, please note that in most cases it is not necessary to see artwork at this stage.

Quote format

You will receive a typed quote from us detailing unit price based on certain quantities and an explanation of any additional charges, as described below:

  • Art and film charge: This is a one time charge that will not be applicable on reorders of the same label or plate, as long as the artwork remains unchanged. This is a standard charge that is applicable to all new product produced by Can West Label. This charge will increase with the number of colors and complexity of the artwork.
  • Die Charge: This is a charge that is only applicable when dealing with specially cut shapes, window cutouts, or membrane switches. As with art and film charges, it is one time and will not be applicable on reorders of the same label. There are no die charges on square or rectangular labels or plates, with the exception of roll labels that will require a die to cut rounded corners or to create butt cuts that have colors bled to the edge. Please note that there will be no charge to you if we have the required cutting die in stock already.
  • Embossing Die Charge: Much like the die charge above, this cost is incurred when ordering graphic overlays or membrane switches which call for embossed areas such as key pads. It is one time and will not be applicable on reorders of the same label.
  • Plate Charge: When ordering roll labels for the first time you will incur a plate charge. Each color will require its own plate. This charge will be in addition to art and film and like that charge will not be applicable on reorders of the same label.
  • Tooling Charge: This too is a one time charge that is normally incurred when dealing with custom cut metal shapes or membrane switches.
  • Jig Charge: This is a one time charge that will be incurred when imprinting components on our component press. A jig is used to ensure that the component is held in place during the imprinting process.

Placing your first order

We request a down payment of 50% of total order value, or contact us to arrange alternative credit arrangements. Upon credit approval, we require a corporately produced purchase order. It is important that we get accurate billing and shipping information in order to avoid problems down the line. If you require confirmation of order placement, please indicate such on your purchase order and we will be glad to do so.

Production time

Standard production time is 3-4 weeks from art proof approval.

Rush Service

We do not have a published rush service, nor do we have a rush service charge. If you require turn around faster than our standard, please contact us. We will do everything in our power to accommodate your required in hand date.

Artwork

Detailed instructions about artwork submission can be found under the artwork section. We accept Corel Draw version 9.0 or less, tifs, EPS files, Autocad files or PDF files. We can also create your artwork from letterhead (in the case of logos), or from a reasonable hand drawn facsimile.

Art proofs

Before production begins, we will prepare an art proof for your approval. This proof is normally displayed on our website under username and password protection (see Art Proof section). Most of our customers find this convenient as it allows for multiple viewing on their end and reflects the colors of the finished product (please note that some variation will occur due to the resolution on your computer monitor). Art proofs can also be couriered or faxed to you if you desire.

If you are US or Mexico based

Our products are 100% NAFTA friendly and will ship across the borders without incurring duty. We will prepare export documents at no cost to the customer. Shipping costs and the costs of a customs broker to expedite customs clearance is the responsibility of the customer. Also, as we are a Canadian manufacturer and according to current regulations, no sales taxes will be charged. Billing will be done in $US, and exchange rates at time of order placement will govern $US invoiced.

If you are Canadian based

Our pricing does not include GST, which will be collected on all products and services. If you are based outside Alberta, no sales tax will be charged, according to current regulations.

Payment Terms

Net 30 days.

Delivery

We ship using all major carriers. Delivery costs are not included in price and will be charged on the invoice. At your option, we will ship collect or have charges billed to your shipping accounts with any carrier.
