Screen Printing

…cost effective, high quality graphics from Can West Label.

Screen printing (a.k.a. silk screening) is one of the oldest and simplest of all graphic arts imprinting processes. It is also the most popular format of graphic reproduction used in the creation of industrial labels. This popularity is driven by screen printing’s significant cost advantage and graphics reproduction capabilities.

This imprinting method is called screen printing because the image is created by pushing ink through a very fine screen. After being stretched on a metal frame, the artwork is created on the screen through a photographic process utilizing film. This allows reproduction of everything from fine type (no smaller than 5.5 pts.) and half tone to heavy solid color imagery. Those areas of the screen that are left open permit ink penetration, while the rest of the screen is sealed so that the ink does not pass through the mesh.

Inks available from Can West come in two high quality formats. Epoxy inks are used for screen printing onto metals and vinyl inks are used for printing on all other materials.
